On 11 November 2020, the Senate referred the inquiry into Media Diversity in Australia to the Senate Environment and Communications References Committee for report by 15 November 2021.

The committee requests an extension of time to report until 23 November 2021 to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
