Telecommunications Legislation Amendment Bill 2018

On 13 August 2018, the Senate referred the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment Bill 2018 to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 31 August 2018.

The closing date for acceptance of submissions is 21 August 2018.

On 28 August 2018, the Committee presented a progress report recommending that the Senate grant an extension of time to report until ​10 September 2018​.

About this inquiry

This Bill would amend the National Broadband Network Companies Act 2011 to create a new tower access regime for towers owned or operated by NBN corporations. It would also allow the Minister for Communications to specify certain temporary telecommunications towers as low-impact facilities in certain circumstances.
