Coal-Fired Power Funding Prohibition Bill 2017

On 4 July 2019, the Senate referred the Coal-Fired Power Funding Prohibition Bill 2017 to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 2 December 2019.

The closing date for submissions to the inquiry is 14 August 2019.

On 14 October 2019, the Senate granted the committee an extension of time to report to 31 March 2020.

On 26 March 2020, the reporting date was extended to 16 April 2020.

About this inquiry

The Bill would prohibit the Commonwealth government or its agencies from funding the refurbishment, building or purchase, or assisting in the transfer of ownership, of a coal-fired power station.
