On 25 February 2021, the Senate referred the provisions of the Online Safety Bill 2021 and the Online Safety (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Bill 2021 to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 11 March 2021.

On 5 March 2021, the Committee presented a progress report recommending that the Senate grant an extension of time to report until 12 March 2021.

The deadline for submissions to this inquiry is 2 March 2021.
