On 25 February 2021, the Senate referred the provisions of the Online Safety Bill 2021 and the Online Safety (Transitional Provisions and Consequential Amendments) Bill 2021 to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 11 March 2021.

The committee requests an extension of time to report until 12 March 2021 to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
