On 25 February 2021, the Senate referred an inquiry into Australia Post to the Environment and Communications References Committee for report by 30 April 2021.

On 16 April 2021, the Committee presented a progress report recommending that the Senate grant an extension of time to report until 17 May 2021.

On 13 May 2021, the Senate granted the committee an extension of time to report to 25 May 2021.

The committee requests an extension of time to report until 26 May 2021 to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
