On 27 October 2022, the Senate referred the Environment and Other Legislation Amendment (Removing Nuclear Energy Prohibitions) Bill 2022 to the Senate Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 31 March 2023.

On 6 March 2023, the committee was granted an extension of time for the report to table by 8 May 2023.

On 24 April 2023, the committee was granted an extension of time to report until 15 June 2023.

On 13 June 2023, the committee was granted an extension of time for the report to table by 27 July 2023.

The committee requests a further extension of time to report until 11 August 2023 to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
