On 23 July 2019, the Senate agreed to the committee's recommendation that this inquiry be re-adopted in the 46th Parliament for inquiry and report by 17 September 2019.

On 9 September 2019, the Senate granted an extension of time to report until 3 December 2019.

On 14 October 2019, the Senate granted a further extension of time to report until 16 March 2020.

On 24 February 2020, the Senate granted a further extension of time to report until 16 June 2020.

On 26 March 2020, the reporting date was extended from 16 June 2020 to the second sitting Wednesday of 2021.

On 9 February 2021, the reporting date was extended from 17 February 2021 to 3 March 2021.

The committee requests an extension of time to report until 28 April 2021 to allow it to consider the evidence received and to conclude its deliberations.
