The Interactive Gambling Amendment (Credit and Other Measures) Bill 2023 (the bill) seeks to amend the Interactive Gambling Act 2001 (the Act) to prohibit the use of credit cards, credit-related products and digital currency as payment methods for interactive wagering services. The bill also seeks to create a new criminal offence and civil penalty provision relating to the ban, and provide enhanced enforcement powers to the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) to allow the enforcement of the ban and existing offences.
