Recommendation 1
4.47 The
committee recommends that the government continue its work with state and local
government planning authorities to ensure a nationally integrated and
consistent approach to requirements for telecommunications infrastructure in
new developments.
Recommendation 2
4.49 The
committee recommends that the government clarify, as soon as possible, the role
of NBN Co in servicing new development projects.
Recommendation 3
4.55 The
committee recommends that the Department of Broadband, Communications and the
Digital Economy give consideration to the variety of ownership arrangements
that exist, or might arise, and whether there are good reasons for the
government to intervene in these arrangements.
Recommendation 4
4.62 The
committee recommends that the government ensure that access arrangements,
including the genuine equivalence of access of a kind contemplated for the NBN,
operate in new developments consistently with those in the rest of the country.
Recommendation 5
4.73 The
committee recommends that the minister, by legislative instrument, specify that
a condition of installation of a line or fibre-ready facility in a project area
is that the installation be undertaken in compliance with nationally consistent
network safety and training standards.
Recommendation 6
4.74 The
committee recommends that the Bill be passed.
