Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority (Consequential and Transitional
Provisions) Bill 2005
Information about the Inquiry
The Senate has referred the provisions of the bills
to the Committee for inquiry and report by 7 February 2006.
The Bills establish a new Australian Sports Anti-Doping Authority
(ASADA), which will incorporate existing functions of the Australian Sports
Drug Agency and the Australian Sports Drug Medical Advisory Committee. The
Bills specify the powers and responsibilities of the new Authority, as well
as the rights of athletes, including their rights in relation to ASADA
decisions.
The Committee invites written submissions from
interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form sent
by email to
ecita.sen@aph.gov.au. The email must include full postal address and
contact details.

Submissions become committee documents and are made
public only after a decision by the Committee. Persons making submissions
must not release them without the approval of the Committee. Submissions are
covered by parliamentary privilege but the unauthorised release of them is
not.
