Labor Senators' dissenting report

Labor Senators disagree with many of the assertions put forward in the Chair’s report, in particular but not restricted to the assertion that Australia is “on track” to meet the Government’s Paris agreement targets. No evidence was presented to the committee to support that claim, significant evidence was presented that disputes it, and the Government’s own emissions projections show Australia falling well short of 2030 emission reduction targets.
Labor reaffirms its policy position of opposition to taxpayer subsidies for coal fired power, including extensions to existing plants.
