Senator the Hon Stephen Parry
President of the Senate
Parliament House
CANBERRA ACT 2600

Dear Mr President,

Pursuant to Standing Order 38(7), I present to you this report of the Senate Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee into the provisions of the Customs Amendment (Australian Trusted Trader Programme) Bill 2015 (the Bill).

On 3 June 2015, pursuant to a resolution of the Senate on 13 May 2015, the provisions of the Bill were referred to the committee for inquiry and report by 15 June 2015.

The committee considers that the Bill is uncontroversial and notes that the details of the programme will be in subordinate legislation available to the Parliament for its consideration. For these reasons, and given the time critical nature of the Bill, the committee has resolved not to conduct an inquiry.

Yours sincerely,

Senator the Hon Ian Macdonald
Chair
