Migration Amendment (Regulation of Migration Agents) Bill 2019 [Provisions] and Migration Agents Registration Application Charge Amendment (Rates of Charge) Bill 2019 [Provisions]

On 28 November 2019 the Senate referred the provisions of Migration Amendment (Regulation of Migration Agents) Bill 2019 and Migration Agents Registration Application Charge Amendment (Rates of Charge) Bill 2019 to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 18 March 2020.

The deadline for submission to the inquiry is 31 January 2020.

About this inquiry

The Migration Amendment (Regulation of Migration Agents) Bill 2019 would make a number of amendments to the Migration Act 1958, which are aimed at streamlining and simplifying regulation of the migration advice industry. The Migration Agents Registration Application Charge Amendment (Rates of Charge) Bill 2019 would amend the Migration Agents Registration Application Charge Act 1997 to adjust charges for the provision of immigration assistance otherwise than on a non-commercial basis.
