Crimes Amendment (Remissions of Sentences) Bill 2021

On 26 August 2021, the Senate referred the Crimes Amendment (Remissions of Sentences) Bill 2021 to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 14 October 2021. On 6 October 2021 the committee's reporting date was extended to 5 November 2021.

The deadline for submissions to this inquiry is 17 September 2021.

The Crimes Amendment (Remissions of Sentences) Bill 2021 seeks to amend the Crimes Act 1914 (Cth) to repeal section 19AA, which applies remissions or reductions granted under state or territory laws to federal sentences.
