Sex Discrimination Amendment (Removing Discrimination Against Students) Bill 2018

On 6 December 2018, the Senate referred the Sex Discrimination Amendment (Removing Discrimination Against Students) Bill 2018 and all circulated amendments to the bill to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 11 February 2019.

The deadline for submissions to the inquiry is 21 January 2019.

About this inquiry

This bill seeks to amend the Sex Discrimination Act 1984 to remove the capacity of bodies established for religious purposes that provide education to directly discriminate against students on the basis of their sexual orientation, gender identity or intersex status.
