Judges’ Pensions Amendment (Pension Not Payable for Misconduct) Bill 2020

On 3 December 2020 the Senate referred the Judges’ Pensions Amendment (Pension Not Payable for Misconduct) Bill 2020 to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 5 April 2021. On 18 March 2021, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 20 May 2021.

The deadline for submission to the inquiry is 1 February 2021.

About this inquiry

The bill would amend the Judges' Pensions Act 1968 to cease the payment of a retired judge's pension where they have engaged in serious misconduct while serving as a judge.
