Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC)
Information about the Inquiry
On 23 November 2010 the Senate referred the following matter to the Legal and Constitutional Affairs Committees for inquiry and report.
The Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC), with particular reference to:
(a) its role, governance arrangements and statutory responsibilities;
(b) the adequacy of its staffing and resources to meet its objectives;
(c) best practice examples of like organisations interstate and overseas;
(d) the appropriate allocation of functions between the ALRC and other statutory
agencies; and
(e) other related matters.
On 31 March 2011, the committee presented an interim report in which it stated that more time is required to consider and address the issues raised during the inquiry; and that it intends to present its final report by 8 April 2011.
Submissions should be received by 28 January 2011. The reporting date is 31 March 2011.
The Committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form submitted online or sent by email to legcon.sen@aph.gov.au as an attached Adobe PDF or MS Word format document. The email must include full postal address and contact details.
