Personal Property Securities (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2009
Information about the Inquiry
On 29 October 2009 the Senate referred the Personal Property Securities (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2009 for inquiry and report.
The PPS (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2009 (the Consequential Bill) represents the next stage in the Government's harmonisation of Australia's law on secured financing using personal property, following the introduction into Parliament of the Personal Property Securities Bill 2009 in June 2009. The Consequential Bill will amend 25 Commonwealth Acts that deal with the creation, registration, priority, extinguishment or enforcement of interests in personal property. The amendments proposed by this Bill will also clarify the operation of legislation that will operate concurrently with the PPS Bill. This will facilitate the establishment of a single national regime for personal property securities. Submissions are due by 9 November 2009.
Submissions should be received by 09 November 2009. The reporting date is 16 November 2009.
The Committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form submitted online or sent by email to legcon.sen@aph.gov.au as an attached Adobe PDF or MS Word format document. The email must include full postal address and contact details.
