Inquiry into the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2009

Information about the Inquiry

On 25 June 2009 the Senate referred the Marriage Equality Amendment Bill 2009 for inquiry and report.

This is a private senator's bill that seeks to remove all discrimination from the Marriage Act 1961 on the basis of sexuality and gender identity and to permit marriage regardless of sex, sexuality and gender identity.

Please note the closing date for submissions is Friday 28 August and late submissions may not be accepted.

Submissions should be received by 28 August 2009. The reporting date is 26 November 2009.

The Committee is seeking written submissions from interested individuals and organisations preferably in electronic form submitted online or sent by email to legcon.sen@aph.gov.au as an attached Adobe PDF or MS Word format document. The email must include full postal address and contact details.
