Anti-competitive conduct in the retail wine industry and ACCC's role

At the dissolution of the Senate and the House of Representatives on 9 May 2016 for a general election on 2 July 2016, the parliamentary committees of the 44th Parliament ceased to exist. Therefore inquiries that were not completed have lapsed and submissions cannot be received.  However, information about the inquiries is still available on this website.

Information on committees for the 45th Parliament will be presented here as soon as it is available.

On 26 February 2016, the Senate Economics Legislation Committee, under Standing Order 25(2)(a), resolved to inquire into, an  report on, anti-competitive conduct in the retail sector of the wine industry and ACCC's role. The committee's main focus is to determine whether there is anti-competitive behaviour in the industry and, if so, what role the ACCC has in promoting competition, and any impediments that are preventing the regulator from performing its function effectively.

Submissions are due on 29 April 2016.

The committee is due to report on 30 September 2016.
