On 10 May 2018, the Senate referred an inquiry into the financial and tax practices of for-profit aged care providers to the Senate Economics References Committee for inquiry and report by 20 September 2018.

Submissions closed 8 June 2018.

On 10 September 2018, the Senate granted the committee an extension to report by 27 November 2018.
