Farm gate

Farm gate price

The price of produce available at the farm, excluding the costs of transport, processing, storage and marketing and profit margins of any entities involved, including the grocery retailer [Clause 7, Constitutional Corporations (Farm Gate to Plate) Bill 2011 (No. 2)]

Floor space

The continuous internal floor area of the premises, but does not include any floor space provided for the consumption of food-based grocery items at the premises [Clause 3, Trade Practices (Industry Codes — Unit Pricing) Regulations 2009]

Food-based grocery item

An item that:
(a) is intended for human consumption by the manufacturer or producer of the item; and
(b) is sold for human consumption by a grocery retailer to a consumer; and
(c) is not meant for consumption at the retail premises at which it is sold to the consumer [Clause 7, Constitutional Corporations (Farm Gate to Plate) Bill 2011 (No. 2)]

Grocery retailer

A constitutional corporation that sells food-based grocery items to consumers in retail premises:
(a) that have more than 1,000 square metres of floor space dedicated to the display of grocery items; and
(b) that are used primarily for the sale of food-based grocery items [Clause 7, Constitutional Corporations (Farm Gate to Plate) Bill 2011 (No. 2)]

Fresh fruit and vegetable produce [Clause 7, Constitutional Corporations (Farm Gate to Plate) Bill 2011 (No. 2)]

Producer price

The average farm gate price received by farmers for a specific type of produce produced within a specified 12-month period [Clause 7, Constitutional Corporations (Farm Gate to Plate) Bill 2011 (No. 2)]

Retail premises

Premises in which grocery items are displayed for retail sale to consumers [Clause 3, Trade Practices (Industry Codes — Unit Pricing) Regulations 2009]
