Review of the listing of al-Qa'ida in the Indian Subcontinent, Islamic State in Libya and Islamic State Sinai Province, and the re-listing of al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula as terrorist organisations under the Criminal Code

On 30 November 2016, the Committee commenced a Review of the listing of al-Qa'ida in the Indian Subcontinent, Islamic State in Libya and Islamic State Sinai Province, and the re-listing of al-Qa'ida in the Arabian Peninsula as terrorist organisations under the Criminal Code

Section 102.1 of the Criminal Code Act 1995 provides that the Committee may review a regulation which lists an organisation as a terrorist organisation and report its comments and recommendations to each House of the Parliament before the end of the applicable disallowance period for the House. The disallowance period is 15 sitting days from the day the regulation is tabled. 

Submissions were requested by Friday, 3 February 2017.
