On 9 November 2015, the Senate referred the inquiry into the feasibility of, and options for, creating a national long service standard, and the portability of long service and other entitlements to the Education and Employment References Committee for inquiry and report.

The closing date for submissions is 11 December 2015. The reporting date is the 25 February 2016.
