On 9 February 2023, the Senate referred the COVID-19 Vaccination Status (Prevention of Discrimination) Bill 2022 and the Fair Work Amendment (Prohibiting COVID-19 Vaccine Discrimination) Bill 2023 to the Committee for inquiry and report by 21 June 2023. On 15 June 2023, the Senate agreed to extend the committee's reporting date to 25 August 2023.

Submissions are requested by 24 March 2023.

Information about submissions

The committee wishes to assure submitters that each piece of correspondence to the inquiry is being read and considered. The processing of each document is not an automated process and may take some time. Once the committee has made decisions about your document, you will be notified.

The committee welcomes submissions from individuals about their experiences in relation to the matters raised by the bills. However, please note that the committee does not have the ability to advise on, advocate for, or take action relating to individual cases.

Treatment of documents

All documents sent to the inquiry become committee documents on receipt and are made public only after a decision of the committee. You must not release your submission without the approval of the committee. Submissions authorised for publication by the committee are protected by parliamentary privilege, but the unauthorised release of them is not.

The committee may not accept or publish material that is not relevant to the bills under inquiry, or which reflects adversely on others.
