Public Hearing in Dalby Queensland

On 16 February 2017, the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport References Committee held a public hearing and demonstration in Dalby, Queensland to further its inquiry into Regulatory requirements that impact on the safe use of remotely piloted aircraft systems, unmanned aerial systems and associated systems (RPAS).

At the Dalby Model Aero Club, the committee was able to see how RPAS can be used for lifesaving operations, agricultural and surveillance purposes. Demonstrators who took part on the day were:

  • ANDAIR;
  • Horizon UAS;
  • Flying Ag;
  • Insitu Pacific;
  • Little Ripper Lifesaver;
  • Ninox Robotix; and 
  • Telstra.

At the Western Downs Regional Council, the committee heard from demonstrators and other witnesses on matters relevant to the inquiry’s terms of reference.

The committee thanks all witnesses and demonstrators who gave evidence, as well as observers who travelled some distance to watch the proceedings.

The committee intends to hold further public hearings in 2017.
