Chair of the Foreign Affairs and Aid Sub-Committee, the Hon Dr Sharman Stone MP, discusses the issues that the Committee will examine in the inquiry into the role of development partnerships in agriculture and agribusiness in promoting prosperity, reducing poverty and enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region.


On 16 September 2015 the Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon Julie Bishop MP, asked the Committee to inquire into and report on the role of development partnerships in agriculture and agribusiness in promoting prosperity, reducing poverty and enhancing stability in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Committee tabled it's first report, Food for thought: improving health and nutrition in the Indo-Pacific region, on Thursday, 5 May 2016.

The Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade ceased to exist upon dissolution of the 44th Parliament and this inquiry has lapsed.
