Inquiry into expanding membership of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership

On Tuesday, 20 October 2020, the Minister for Trade, Tourism and Investment, Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham asked the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade - Trade Sub-committee to inquire into expanding membership of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The Committee invites submissions addressing any or all of the terms of reference for the inquiry;

Submissions were requested by Friday, 16 April 2021.

The Committee tabled its report Expanding the membership of the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership on 10 February 2022.

About this inquiry

The Committee will examine the merits of expanding membership of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP). The CPTPP has currently has a membership of 11 countries, including Australia.
