On 19 June 2014, the Senate referred the Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (2014 Budget Measures No. 1) Bill 2014 and Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (2014 Budget Measures No. 2) Bill 2014 to the Community Affairs Legislation Committee for inquiry and report. 

Submissions were sought by 25 July 2014. The reporting date is 4 September 2014. On 3 September 2014, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 10 September 2014.
