On 1 December 2022, the Senate referred an inquiry into concussions and repeated head trauma in contact sports to the Senate Community Affairs References Committee for inquiry and report by 21 June 2023. On 16 June 2023, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 2 August 2023. On 1 August 2023, the Senate granted an extension of time for reporting until 5 September 2023.
