Treaties tabled on 8 September 2015

The Treaties Committee is empowered by its resolution of appointment to inquire into and report on 'matters arising from treaties and related National Interest Analysis and proposed treaty actions presented or deemed to be presented to the Parliament.'

As nearly all treaty actions proposed by the Australian Government are tabled in Parliament, this type of review activity accounts for much of the Committee's work.

The Committee invites interested persons and organisations to make submissions by the following dates:

  • Submissions for the Brazil Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement and the Lao Air Services by 18 September 2015,
  • Submissions for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) by 25 September 2015.

  • Agreement between the Government of Australia and the Government of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic Relating to Air Services
  • Amendments to the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (‘SOLAS’), 1974 as amended, Resolution MSC.380(94)
