The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS) has today tabled its report by statement on the review of the re-listing of Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) and listing of Neo-Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh (Neo-JMB) as terrorist organisations under the Criminal Code Act 1995. Jama’at Mujahideen Bangladesh is a Bangladeshi Sunni violent extremist group whose ideology broadly aligns with al-Qa’ida’s global jihadist ideals. The Committee’s report by statement acknowledges that the appropriate processes have been followed and the conclusion that JMB and Neo-JMB meet the definition of a terrorist organisation under the Criminal Code.
