Implementation of the National Redress Scheme

Participating in the inquiry

The Committee tabled its Second Interim Report on 23 November, 2021.

In accordance with the Committee's Resolution of Appointment, the Committee will now prepare a Final Report, which will be finalised before the final parliamentary sitting day in May 2022.

Content of submissions

It is essential that committees are able to conduct their inquiries on behalf of the Parliament without interference. Committees call for submissions to provide an opportunity for organisations and individuals to participate in policy making and to have their views placed on the public record and considered as part of the decision-making process.

Those who are interested in providing a submission to the Committee should note that the submission should be prepared solely for the inquiry and should not have been previously published. Once a Committee receives a submission it will decide whether to accept it as a submission and authorise publication of all or some of the content.

Submissions that may cause harm or attempt to influence the conduct of the inquiry may have content redacted or not published. The action of the Committee reflects the general principle of affording protection to witnesses.

If you are concerned about your submission being public you can ask the committee to keep your submission confidential or for your name to be withheld.

  • Confidential submissions are only read by members of the committee and the secretariat and are not published online.
  • Name withheld submissions are published online, but without your name, and therefore can be read by the public.

If you would like either of these options please clearly indicate this in your submission.

If you are interested in contributing to the committee's inquiry, please refer to the terms of reference. You may find it helpful to look at the guide for preparing a submission. It includes suggestions on what to include in a submission, a check list, and information about what happens to your submission once it has been received by the committee.
