On 26 November 2021, pursuant to section 7(c) of the Human Rights (Parliamentary Scrutiny) Act 2011, the Attorney-General referred to the Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights the following matters for inquiry and report by 4 February 2022:

Submissions
Submissions for this inquiry closed on 21 December 2021.
The committee resolved that it will carefully consider all correspondence received (including from individuals), but in order to administratively manage the volume of correspondence it will only publish as submissions correspondence from organisations and academics. The committee developed an online survey to allow members of the public to fully express their views on the religious discrimination legislative package (this survey closed on 21 December 2021). The committee resolved it will publish one example of each form or campaign letter or submission or petition (together with the number received).
The committee resolved it will accept submissions strictly addressing its terms of reference: that is, relating to the religious discrimination legislative package.
Please be aware that the committee may choose not to accept or not to publish a submission that contains a statement that incites hatred or violence or vilifies certain groups.
You should also be aware that if a submission reflects adversely on another party (for example, makes allegations of a serious nature such as incompetence, negligence, corruption or criminal conduct), the committee will generally decline to accept and publish this as a submission.
