Report on Annual Reports (No. 2 of 2024)
This is the Senate Finance and Public Administration Legislation Committee's (the committee) second report on annual reports for 2024.
Under Standing Order 25(20), the annual reports of departments, agencies and statutory office holders within the committee's allocated portfolios of Finance, Prime Minister and Cabinet and Parliamentary Departments are referred to the committee for examination and assessment.
Senate Standing Order 25(20)(f) requires the committee to report on annual reports tabled by 30 April each year by the tenth sitting day after 30 June of that year. In its first report for 2024, tabled on 20 March 2024, the committee decided to examine and report on all annual reports which had been presented to Parliament and thereby referred to the committee between 1 May 2023 and 13 February 2024.
The committee’s first report of 2024 noted that while the majority of annual reports for 2022–23 were presented in a timely manner, the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council’s Annual Report 2022–23 was not received by the committee as of 20 March 2024. The committee noted that the agency had not provided a reason for the delay in presentation of their annual report.
The committee notes that the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council’s Annual Report 2022–23 was tabled in the Senate on 25 June 2024.
The committee welcomes this development and intends on examining and reporting on the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community Council’s Annual Report 2022–23 in the Report on Annual Reports (No. 1 of 2025).
