Inquiry into the business case for the National Broadband Network

This inquiry lapsed when the Joint Standing Committee on the National Broadband Network ceased to exist at the dissolution of the House of Representatives on Thursday 11 April 2019.


Pursuant to the committee’s resolution of establishment, particularly paragraphs 2(a), (d), (e) and (f), the committee will inquire into the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) and the overall long term financial outlook for nbn co, including the forecasts in relation to:

  1. revenue generation;
  2. the key financial indicators in the Corporate Plan 2018-2021, and underlying financial forecasts out to 2040;
  3. the competitive risks facing the multi-technology mix;
  4. the impact of alternate pricing structures on the economics of the NBN; and
  5. other matters relevant to the commercial viability of NBN, the Commonwealth’s accounting treatment of government debt/investment in NBN, and the prospect of future sale, in whole or part, of NBN.

The committee calls for submissions on the inquiry into the business case for the National Broadband Network. The closing date for submissions is 29 March 2018 with the reporting date to be advised.
