Role of the Former Committee

The Joint Standing Committee on Migration is one of ten joint committees administered by the House of Representatives, and is established by a  resolution of appointment which was passed by the House of Representatives on 26 July 2022 and the Senate on 27 July 2022.

The committee consist of 10 members, 3 Members of the House of Representatives to be nominated by the Government Whip or Whips, 3 Members of the House of Representatives to be nominated by the Opposition Whip or Whips or by any minority group or independent Member, 2 Senators to be nominated by the Leader of the Government in the Senate, 1 Senator to be nominated by the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate and 1 Senator to be nominated by any minority group or independent Senator.

About this committee

At the dissolution of the House of Representatives on 28 March 2025 this committee ceased to exist. Any inquiries that were not completed have lapsed and submissions cannot be received.
