1.1
The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Amendment
(Alpine Grazing) Bill 2014 (the bill) seeks to amend the Environment
Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 to deem that the minister
has:
-
received from the Victorian government a referral of its proposal
to trial cattle grazing in the Alpine National Park; and
- decided that the trial of alpine grazing is unacceptable.
1.2
The bill is accompanied by a statement of compatibility which concludes
that the bill 'is compatible with human rights as it does not raise any human
rights issues.'[1]
1.3
The committee considers that the bill does not appear to give
rise to human rights concerns.
