Stronger Futures in the Northern Territory Bill 2012 and related legislation
Background
On 15 June 2012, the National Congress of Australia's First People
(Congress) wrote to the committee asking it to examine the bills.
Congress' letter is available here (PDF 538KB).
Before determining how it will proceed with this request,
the committee decided as a first step to write to the Minister for
Families, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs requesting advice on
the compatibility of the bills with human rights. The committee's
letter is available here (PDF 64KB).
On 28 June 2012, the Minister responded to the committee's
letter. The Minister's response is available here (PDF 6616KB).
