The Parliamentary Joint Committee on Human Rights was established in early 2012 and first reported in August 2012.
On 19 August 2022 the committee celebrated ten years of human rights scrutiny. As part of the Senate Occasional Lecture series, Mr Harry Jenkins AO, the Hon. Ken Wyatt AM and Mr Graham Perrett MP were part of a panel discussion reflecting on the committee's first ten years of operation.
