On Thursday 12 September 2019 the Minister for Resources and Northern Australia, Senator the Hon Matthew Canavan, asked the Joint Standing Committee on Northern Australia to resume its inquiry into the Opportunities and Challenges of the Engagement of Traditional Owners in the Economic Development of Northern Australia.

The Committee invites interested persons and organisations to make submissions addressing one or more of the terms of reference by Friday, 15 November 2019. For information on how to make submissions, go to our Making a submission to a Committee inquiry page.

On 26 March 2020, the Committee suspended inquiry related activity due to the ongoing problems associated with
COVID-19. The Committee hopes to resume public hearings later in the year. The Committee sincerely thanks everyone who has contributed to the inquiry so far, and will keep them informed of future progress.
