On Thursday, 20 October 2016, the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Water Resources resolved to inquire into the 2014-15 annual report of the Department of Agriculture.

The Committee held a roundtable on Thursday, 24 November 2016. The focus of the roundtable was the biosecurity of the Australian honey bee industry.

On 27 March 2017 the Committee released its report ​Safe Keeping: Inquiry into the biosecurity of Australian honey bees.
