  Crimes Act 1914

  to facilitate effective disaster victim identification and criminal investigation in the event of a mass casualty incident within Australia. Also contains an application provision.

  Criminal Code Act 1995

  to insert a new offence relating to association with a terrorist organisation;

  Transfer of Prisoners Act 1983

  to provide for the transfer of prisoners between State and Territory prisons for security reasons; and

  Administrative Decisions (Judicial Review) Act 1977

  to make decisions of the Attorney-General made on security grounds exempt from the application of the Act. Also contains an application provision.

  Criminal Code Act 1995

  in relation to: terrorist organisation membership offences; and offences of providing training to or receiving training from a terrorist organisation; and

  to strengthen ASIO’s information-gathering powers, in particular by: extending the questioning time under a warrant when interpreters are used; preventing unauthorised overseas travel by persons specified in warrants; clarifying the powers of the prescribed authority to give directions consistent with questioning warrants; and prohibiting, except in specified circumstances, disclosures about investigations or sensitive operational information; and

  Intelligence Services Act 2001

  to ensure that the Parliamentary Joint Committee on ASIO, ASIS and DSD reviews these amended provisions rather than the original provisions enacted by the

  Introduced with the Age Discrimination (Consequential Provisions) Bill 2003, the bill prohibits age discrimination in key areas such as employment, education, access to premises and to goods, services and facilities, provision of accommodation, land dealings, and administration of Commonwealth laws and programs, whilst exempting legitimate differential treatment in areas such as superannuation, taxation, health, social security and migration. Also confers related functions on the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission and contains a regulation-making power.

  Provides for the restructure of the Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (including abolition of the positions of Disability Discrimination Commissioner, Race Discrimination Commissioner and Sex Discrimination Commissioner) and the Commission’s renaming as the Australian Human Rights Commission. Also provides for: greater focus on education, dissemination of information on human rights and assistance to business and the community; prior approval of, or notification to, the Attorney-General of proposed interventions in court proceedings by the Commission; removal of power to recommend payment of damages or compensation in certain circumstances; appointment of part-time complaints commissioners; abolition of the Community Relations Council and advisory councils; removal of powers of delegation from the
