Parliamentary party lists of election commitments

In accordance with subsection 64MA(3) of the Parliamentary Service Act 1999 (the Act), designated Parliamentary parties must provide the Parliamentary Budget Officer with a list of their election commitments by 5pm on Friday, 6 September 2013, the day before polling day. Subsection 64MA(4) of the Act, requires that the Parliamentary Budget Officer publicly release these lists on Sunday, 8 September 2013, the day after polling day.

The following Parliamentary parties provided the Parliamentary Budget Officer with a list of their election commitments.

The Parliamentary Budget Officer uses the information provided by the parties and public announcements made by the parties as the basis for preparing the final lists of election commitments which are used in preparing the post-election report.

Post-election report

The Parliamentary Budget Officer is required, within 30 days after the end of the caretaker period for a general election, to prepare a post-election report of election commitments. For each designated parliamentary party, the post-election report presents budget impacts of election commitments that would have a material impact on the Commonwealth budget estimates for the current and next three financial years, the total combined impact of those commitments and costing documentation associated with these commitments. A designated parliamentary party is a party with at least five members in the Parliament immediately before the commencement of the caretaker period.
