Selection of Bills Committee

Report No. 4 of 2023

The Senate debated the adoption of the report. The recommendations of the report were agreed to, with amendments, on Thursday, 30 March 2023.

  1. The committee met in private session on Wednesday, 29 March 2023 at 7.16 pm.
  2. The committee recommends that—        
    1. the Digital Assets (Market Regulation) Bill 2023 be referred immediately to the Economics Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 2 August 2023 (see appendix 1 for a statement of reasons for referral);
    2. the provisions of the Fair Work Legislation Amendment (Protecting Worker Entitlements) Bill 2023 be referred immediately to the Education and Employment Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 28 April 2023 (see appendix 2 for a statement of reasons for referral);
    3. the provisions of the Nature Repair Market Bill 2023 and Nature Repair Market (Consequential Amendments) Bill 2023 be referred immediately to the Environment and Communications Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 1 August 2023 (see appendix 3 for a statement of reasons for referral);
    4. the provisions of the Northern Australia Infrastructure Facility Amendment (Miscellaneous Measures) Bill 2023 be referred immediately to the Rural and Regional Affairs and Transport Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 4 May 2023 (see appendix 4 for a statement of reasons for referral); and
    5. the provisions of the Treasury Laws Amendment (Refining and Improving Our Tax System) Bill 2023 be referred immediately to the Economics Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 28 April 2023 (see appendix 5 for a statement of reasons for referral).
  3. The committee recommends that the following bills not be referred to committees:
