Economic development on Norfolk Island

On 25 March 2014 the Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, The Hon Jamie Briggs MP, asked the Committee to inquire into and report on the opportunities for economic development on Norfolk Island.

The Committee invites interested persons and organisations to make submissions addressing the terms of reference by 11 August 2014. Online submissions can be made on this page.

About this inquiry

The Committee will inquire into the economic development of Norfolk Island with particular reference to:

  • redressing barriers to tourism, with particular regard to air services, facilities for cruise ships, roads and other infrastructure;
  • complements to tourism, such as agriculture, other industry or small-medium enterprises; and
  • proposals and opportunities for niche industries.
