On 5 December 2019, the Senate resolved to establish a Select Committee on Foreign Interference through Social Media to inquire into and report on the risk posed to Australia’s democracy by foreign interference through social media.
The committee tabled an interim report on 17 December 2021 and a progress report on 21 April 2022.
Due to the calling of the 2022 Federal Election, the Select Committee on Foreign Interference through Social Media was dissolved.
A new Select Committee on Foreign Interference through Social Media was established in the 47th Parliament on 24 November 2022. Information on that committee is available here.
