Inquiry into the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Amendment Bill 2003

On 4 December 2003, the Senate referred the provisions of the Disability Discrimination Amendment Bill 2003 to the Senate Legal and Constitutional Legislation Committee for inquiry and report by 25 March 2004. On 2 March 2004, the reporting date was extending to 7 April 2004. An interim report has been tabled (PDF 43KB)

The amendments remove the prohibition on disability discrimination on the ground of a person's addiction to a prohibited drug. The provisions would not apply to people who are receiving treatment for their addiction.
