Chapter 1 Introduction

1.1                   Under Section 16 of the Public Works Committee Act 1969 the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works (PWC) is required to provide a report of proceedings ending 31 December.

1.2                   Proceedings undertaken in 2007 were undertaken by the PWC of the 41st Parliament. As such, the PWC of the 42nd Parliament is unable to comment on these activities in detail. Full reports, submissions and transcripts of proceedings are available on the Committee’s website.[1]

1.3                   Thirteen reports were completed during 2007 with works comprising a total of $2875.04 million.  Eight referrals lapsed when the 41st Parliament was prorogued on 17 October 2007 and of these, three were ready for report to Parliament. Reports presented and value of works are listed at
Appendix A. Committee meetings and hearings are listed at Appendix B.

1.4                   The Committee thanks the work of its predecessor, the PWC of the 41st Parliament.
